Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 Review Roundup

Remember the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 netbook that was announced last month? It's the second generation of 10-inch netbook from Lenovo with quite some improvements over the first generation. The pink colored Lenovo S10-2 is currently available for order on Amazon for $329.99, and will comes with 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm hard drive, and 6-cell battery.


According to most reviews done on this netbook, the Lenovo S10-2 is definitely much better than the first generation of IdeaPad S10. Lenovo has tried removing most of the complaints on the S10 model in producing a better new S10-2.

First, the external design of S10-2 looks better than its predecessor. It has a rounder look, a glossy cover with a repeating pattern that looks strikingly similar to Target’s Bullseye, and available in 4 colors including pink, white, gray, and black.

Second, the keyboard and touchpad of the S10-2 has a much improved design in terms of ergonomics. The pitch of the keys are wider, and the multi-touch trackpad has been expanded.

Third, the features of IdeaPad S10-2 has improved. It comes with a standard 6-cell battery (instead of 3-cell in S10), 3 USB ports (instead of 2 in S10), a glossy 10.1-inch display, and a new option for 3G modem. Also, there's a quick start function that enable this machine to be booted up in just 10 seconds, according to this review by DK.

And finally, the greatest part is the price. Despite all the improvements that Lenovo has made on the S10-2 model, the price remain in the comparative range in the market.

Upcoming Pink Netbook: Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2

Lenovo is preparing to release an upgrade version of IdeaPad S10 netbook, called the Ideapad S10-2.




THe company has made some great improvements on this second generation netbook which includes: a wider and more comfortable keyboad, a 6-cell battery which provide over four hours of runtime, 3 USB ports (instead of 2 for the Ideapad S10), and a more stylish and sleek design. Also, there will be an integrated 3G modem option for the Ideapad S10-2, but the ExpressCard which was previously available in the Ideapad S10 will be dropped. Colors that are available for the Ideapad S10-2 includes black, white, pink and gray.

Lenovo S10 Netbook to Add Facial Recognition and Multi-Touch Trackpad

Lenovo recently announced that they will be upgrading the Ideapad S10 netbook with several exciting new features, which includes:

• Increase of screen size from 10-inches to 10.2-inches
• Lenovo VeriFace technology which is a cool facial recognition system
  
• Multi-touch trackpad
• LenovoSocial, a preloaded portal on the S10, which makes it easier to connect to your friends on various social networks.
• Lenovo Quick Start which allows you to access frequently used apps faster

The upgraded Lenovo S10 will be available some time in March 2009, with a price tag of $349. The color options will include pink, white, red, blue, and black.

Lenovo official site currently offers only white version of Lenovo S10 for $399, and a red version for $429. To get the pink Lenovo IdeaPad S10, you will need to order from CompUSA at $429.99.

Update: CompUSA now shows that the pink Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is currently unavailable. Looks like they have run out of stock... we will keep updating one we found new source selling the pink version.

Pink Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Available On CompUSA

While Lenovo has officially stated on their website that the pink version of IdeaPad S10 netbook will only be available on December, CompUSA has already listed the pink netbook on their product page. The price is set at $429.99 with the following specs:

Pastel Pink Version Of Lenovo S10 Netbook To Be Available In December 2008

While the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 already start shipping, only the classic white version is available at this time. For those of you who are waiting for the pink version, Lenovo has revealed in the product page, and gallery section that the Pastel pink color of S10 will be available in December 2008.

Lenovo Upcoming Mini Laptop

Lenovo is coming up with a new mini laptop model - IdeaPad S10. Reported by Crunch Gear, the upcoming Lenovo netbook will begin shipping in early October:

"In the latest string of netbook offerings comes Lenovo with the S10. The LED-backlit 10.2-inch screen netbook is small, but doesn’t skimp on the features. The keyboard might be cramped for some because it’s been reduced in size by 15 percent, but what would a netbook be without a couple caveats. The S10 will come with Windows XP (for reals, Yay!), two USB ports, a 4-in-1 multicard reader, an Express Card slot and built-in Wi-fi.

Powered by an Intel Atom processor, the S10 comes in two flavors: one with 512MB of RAM and an 80GB HDD with the other option including 1GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD. The S10 starts out at $399 and will begin shipping in early October. "
